Labour cost goes up in past year

According to the recently conducted surveys, the current labour cost in 7 countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia, is lower than that in China. All these countries are major players in textiles.

Besides employee's salary, social benefits and all kinds of welfare assistance has been included in the labour cost.

It has been noted that labour cost in Bangladesh is the lowest of all at just US $0.22 per hour. This amount is lower than even the one fifth of the labor cost in the coastal areas of China.

Labour cost in Cambodia, Pakistan and Vietnam stand at around $0.33, $0.37 and $0.38 per hour.

Reportedly, lowest labour cost in China backland is also more than that in these countries at $0.55 per hour. Labour cost in some coastal areas of China has reached minimum of $1.08 per hour. However, Haitian labour cost is a few points lower than the minimum wage cost of China.

Statistics show that, with the RMB appreciation China's labor cost has increased by atleast 10 percent in just last 15 months.
