E-commerce fashion group Dafiti founders step down after a decade

Dafiti, a fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform in Latin America (LATAM), has announced that its CEO and co-founder, Philipp Povel, along with his co-founder, Malte Huffmann, are to step down after a decade of leading the business. Operating in four countries; Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, Dafiti aims to revolutionise the fashion ecosystem.

Since launching in Brazil, Dafiti has grown into the leading online fashion and lifestyle destination in LATAM with over 7.7 million active customers and €575 million in Net Merchandise Value (NMV) in 2020. From an initial team of four, Dafiti now employs over 3,700 people across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia. The transition of co-founder responsibilities will be completed in the second quarter. GFG’s supervisory board intends to propose the election of Philipp Povel as a member of the GFG supervisory board at the upcoming annual general meeting in May 2021, the parent organisation, Global Fashion Group, said in a press release.

Ten years on, we are incredibly proud of the business we have built on the back of that vision, with the support of our thousands of colleagues. Dafiti has been a huge part of our lives over this time, but we now feel it is time to focus on personal priorities, in particular our young families. Leading Dafiti and shaping the online fashion ecosystem in one of the most dynamic regions of the world has been a great privilege, and the decision to step away has been difficult. However, it gives us immense satisfaction to know that we are leaving behind a business that has never been stronger and that is ideally positioned to capture the significant growth potential that remains for fashion and lifestyle ecommerce in LATAM. We will always consider ourselves part of the Global Fashion Group (GFG) family and are excited to see where the next generation of leaders takes Dafiti,” Philipp Povel, co-founder and CEO, and Malte Huffmann, co-founder, Dafiti said in a statement.

They will be missed by many across the group, and in particular by the LATAM team and business that they have poured their energies into for over a decade.
