Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) recently signed an agreement to launch diploma courses for mid-level managers and employees of garment factories to develop their professional skills. EPB director general Khaled Mamun Chowdhury and BUFT pro vice chancellor Ayub Nabi Khan signed the agreement.

President of the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan highlighted the shortage of skilled employees, particularly at the mid-level management section, in the country’s readymade garments sector and the need to address the issue now.

“Improving productivity is an important strategic tool to retain competitiveness in the world market, alongside maintaining the market. One of the best options to enhance productivity is to make the workers skilled by imparting them necessary training,” he was quoted as saying by Bangla media reports.
