Seasonal demand expected to surge

18 Apr '07
1 min read

After enduring unusually cold and wintry conditions so far in April, consumers will be rewarded for their patience. The warmest weather so far this year is expected to envelop the eastern half of North America next week, with temperatures soaring above normal from the Gulf Coast to the Canadian Maritimes.

While this spring surge is not expected to produce record high temperatures, the changes from the recent chill will unleash significant pent-up demand developed over the past 3 weeks.

TEMPERATURES:
Anticipate widespread afternoon highs in the 70s and 80s; at least 20 to 30 degrees warmer than recent readings in the Midwest, Northeast, and Eastern Canada.

CONSUMER DEMAND: Expect a sharp demand increase for items such as:
• Spring Apparel & Footwear (e.g. shorts, sandals)
• Lawn and Garden (e.g. lawn care, patio furniture)
• Bottled Water/Cold Beverages
• Allergy Care
• Pest Control
• Packaged Ice

Expect demand thresholds to be reached in some areas for:
• A/C and Fans
• Pool Products
