Between 17th and 22nd September 2010, Hall 14.1 at Feria de Madrid provided the venue for the staging of the fifty-second edition of CIBELES MADRID FASHION WEEK (CMFW). Some fifty catwalk shows, attended by 1,300 journalists from all around the world and more than 60,000 visitors, made up this grand forum for Spanish fashion.

Within an ambience of creativity dominated by the latest trends, this exceptional promotional showcase organised by IFEMA offered visitors a comprehensive overview of the Spanish fashion world over a period of six days, based on the ideas presented by fifty designers. Ten of the designers were young fashion creators taking part at EL EGO, with the rest being established figures within the world of fashion. These designers were accompanied by thirty talented and promising new names within the field of design, who exhibited their collections at the Showroom at EL EGO, offering their items for direct sale to the public throughout the entire six-day duration of the event.

In this respect, CMFW offered a fascinating tour through the heterogeneous and creative world of Spanish fashion. As is customary, many new features were introduced at this edition, including the incorporation of the designers, Elisa Palomino and Martín Lamothe, as well as the earlier staging of the double catwalk shows, which took place on the second day of the event instead of on the last day, as has been customary up until now. The catwalk shows organised by the established designers were inaugurated by Elisa Palomino and Martín Lamothe on Saturday 18th at 11.00 a.m. This part of the programme concluded with the grand master of Spanish prêt-à-porter fashion, Elio Berhanyer, on Wednesday 22nd at 8.45 p.m.

Furthermore, some of the designers taking part at CIBELES presented their collections internationally. In this respect, we might mention Davidelfín, who once again took part at Fashion Week in New York, on Thursday 16th September, and Amaya Arzuaga, who not only presented her creations in Madrid, but also took part at the Paris Fashion Show. CMFW September 2010 also presented an Off-Fair Programme consisting of four presentations in Madrid, organised by the designers, Alvarno, Anjara, Gory de Palma and María Lafuente.

El EGO Celebrates Ten Editions
At this edition of CMFW, EL EGO, the promotional forum for promising young talents within the field of design, celebrated ten editions or its first five years as an established event. EL EGO was created in February 2006, promoted by IFEMA, with a view to presenting new designers who understand fashion as a creative form of expression and an artistic discipline that forms part of the culture of their time, based on the final justification of reaching the streets and gaining the acceptance of society as a whole.

The idea is to pursue the search for new styles and innovative trends. In short, a forum was created at which to bring together and present a series of alternative ideas from a number of young designers who had yet to make the breakthrough at any other fashion event. This founding philosophy is as alive today as ever. At each edition EL EGO renews its emphasis on new design values, supporting creators who understand fashion as a balance between creativity, innovation, technique and functional appeal.
