The survey found that 60 percent of tweens plan to take several shopping trips during the summer while an additional 27 percent replied that they would "shop all summer." But the back-to-school shopping season can be a stressful time for tweens and their parents. More than half of tween girls surveyed (53 percent) replied that they sometimes disagree with their mothers/fathers about a particular outfit looking "too old" for them.
"The back-to-school season is an exciting time for tweens because it gives them the opportunity to start off the new school year with confidence and style," said Mike Rayden, Chairman, President and CEO of Tween Brands Inc.
Among the various back-to-school looks this fall season, there are several trends that are popular with tweens. Skinny fit jeans with T-shirt ranks as a top look, with 24 percent of respondents calling it their favorite. Other popular outfits include the always-popular camisole top with Bermuda shorts and cargo pants with a tank top.
The survey was conducted during July 2006 of 400 tween girls between the ages of 7 and 14 years old by Tween Brands.
