Conforama is intensifying its development in Italy by opening 4 stores, consequently the number of stores in the country comes to 8.
Three Emmezeta stores have been converted into Conforamas:
•Conforama Modène covers a sales area of 6,000 m² and employs 100 people.
•Conforama Fasano, near Brindisi, covers a sales area of 8,200 m² and employs 100 people.
•Conforama Brescia covers a sales area of 8,200 m² and employs 120 people.
A new store has been opened:
•Conforama Naples, opened on 27th November, covers a sales area of 4,800 m² and employs 70 people.
Christophe Cuvillier, Chief Executive Officer of Conforama, stated: “Our priority is to increase the presence and notoriety of Conforama in Italy. Between here and mid 2009, all of our Emmezeta stores in the country will have been converted into Conforamas, thereby completing the remarkable modernisation work started two years ago.”
Conforama has been present in Italy and in Croatia since 2000, and runs 14 stores there under the Emmezeta brand name and 8 stores under the Conforama brand name. With a work force of 2,950 people, the brand made a turnover of 562 million euros in this country in 2006.
Conforama (a subsidiary of the PPR Group), world n°2 and n°1 in France in household goods, today runs a total of 247 stores including 178 in mainland France and 10 in France's overseas dependencies. On the international front, Conforama runs 59 stores – 45 under the banner of Conforama and 14 under the Emmezeta sign – in 7 countries: Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Poland, Luxembourg, Italy and Croatia. With a workforce of around 15,000 persons, the company had a turnover of 3.28 billion euros in 2006.
