With expertise in scouting, cultivating and promoting emerging fashion designers, Net-a-porter has unveiled the Vanguard, a programme to be launched on September 6. Up to four nascent designers each season will be chosen for a comprehensive mentorship programme. This formalises the company’s expertise as an incubator and accelerator of fashion talent.

Season on season, Net-a-porter’s expert team of buyers will seek brands who they predict will make a lasting impression on the future fashion landscape, and provide mentorship, practical advice and marketing support to enable them to develop a long-term successful business.

As part of the Vanguard, up to four nascent designers each season will be offered a comprehensive mentorship programme encompassing training and guidance from Net-a-porter’s unparalleled global team of specialists.

The mentorship programme outlines a 360-degree approach to building a successful and sustainable business in today’s industry that goes beyond design.

For Autumn/Winter 2018, Net-a-porter buyers have selected Les Reveries, RUH, Gu_de and Martinez, to benefit from sessions that concentrate on buying, business strategy, Marketing and PR, Social Media, Tech and advice on entering new markets and territories.

Across the Group, YNAP has a long history of spotting and nurturing new emerging talent. YOOX launched its first fashion talent scouting programme as far back as 2004. YOOX continues to support emerging labels through initiatives such as The Next Talents project, established in 2011 with Vogue Italia, which supports young designers and YOOXYGEN awards in partnership with Parsons School of Design which focuses on promoting responsible fashion practices.
