AFI's Design for Life launches Global Robing

The platforms include the exhibition of the best local designers in the continent's top fashion weeks, which AFI owns and operates: Joburg Fashion Week, Cape Town Fashion Week and Africa Fashion Week. AFI stages and manages other platforms as well. These include FASTRACK Day (which supports emerging talent) and the Africa Fashion Awards, which rewards impactful contributions and influences to the African and global fashion industry.

Initiatives, which create direct relationships between talent and commercial ventures, are Buyer's Salons and Accessories and Apparel Trade Exhibitions. Through strong and impactful CSI programs, like the AFI-sponsored project with the Clothing Bank – Global Robing – and Gift from Africa. The media is also a platform that AFI utilizes, through a concerted media relations and marketing strategy, including a strong push on online and social media.

AFI aims to present African fashion and creative talent in a manner that makes local talent globally relevant and ensures that the world has market access to African product and design. Through the organisation's promotion, curation and support, AFI ensures that the international community responds positively and commercially to African-designed products, which are available, unique and on-trend.

Through its numerous Fashion Weeks and initiatives, AFI opens up the continent to commercial projects, both locally and internationally, increasing the geographic spread of Africa's fashion and the market access to the continent's apparel.
