UK fashion designer Corrie Nielsen heads to Singapore

London's own Corrie Nielsen has been invited to be the star of the runway at this year's Passion Ball in Singapore - the premier event of the spring social season in Singapore.

The exclusive black tie charity gala is being produced and chaired by Singapore's renowned A-list events organizer, Olga Iserlis and is in support of Food From The Heart (FFTH) - founded by Christine and Henry Laimer and chaired by Ronald P. Stride. The event, which is in its 8th year, is taking place on 11 May 2012 in the Grand Ballroom of Capella Singapore.

Supported by Audemars Piguet and Coutts Bank, the theme for this year's Passion Ball is The Supper Club - a return to the golden age of elegant dining. Patrons will be surrounded by intimate décor and enjoy a gourmet meal created by Capella Singapore and complemented by Laurent Perrier champagne, Cointreau and Skyy Vodka cocktails. The evening's program will be hosted by Anita Kapoor, and will feature a stellar line-up of entertainment with a finale catwalk show by Corrie Nielsen.

Fascinated by form and design from young age as the daughter of a prominent American sculptor, London Fashion Week designer Corrie Nielsen obtained a First Class BA Honours degree in Fashion Design Womenswear from the world's most famous fashion and art institute, Central Saint Martins. She worked in bespoke tailoring followed by a six- year stint at Vivienne Westwood before launching her eponymous label.

Corrie's impressive background includes being chosen by John Galliano as the winner of the prestigious Fashion Fringe 2010 competition, establishing herself as the emerging designer to watch out for. Drawing inspiration from historical periods and combining her fascination of architectural forms and designs, she is lauded by the fashion press as a modern couturier with a truly unique aesthetic vision.

The Passion Ball will include an auction featuring a spring/summer 2012 piece donated by Corrie Nielsen and an exclusive timepiece by Audemars Piguet.

All proceeds from The Passion Ball go towards funding programmes run by Food From The Heart, a non-profit charity that distributes unsold bread. Every month, Food from the Heart touches the lives of over 11,000 individuals.
