Footwear sector targets $3.7 billion exports this year

Leather and footwear industry has set a target of earning $3.7 billion from exports this year, producing 500 million pairs of shoes and sandals and 45 million bags, Viet Nam Federation of Leather and Footwear Associations informed.
Designers, workers and marketing staff will trained to support business, directly contact shoe importers and eliminate middlemen, the federation conveyed.
To help reduce costs, materials management will have to be strengthened by upgrading infrastructure, modernizing equipment and increasing productivity and quality.
Production of highly competitive products and promotion of brand image will be stepped up by the industry.
To build trading centers to exhibit, trade in materials and finished products, besides promotional activities, was suggested by the federation.
