The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2013 is running from October 6 to 10, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Kiran picks shapes, embellishments and motifs from the Middle East, the Orient and India and blends them in a languid yet elegant form of comfort dressing. Metallic components, stark placement embroideries, colour and print blocking met Ghosh’s signature layering, edgy silhouettes and soft geometric shapes in a vivid palette of spice colours and vibrant hues. Innovatively using sheer and opaque plays and experimenting with constructed separates against flow, Kiran Uttam Ghosh presented new layering ideas that go beyond the ‘tunics with trousers’ theory.
Credited for creating shapes and styles that are of the moment but not bound by time, Kiran Uttam Ghosh presented a collection of easy to wear pieces that surprisingly skimmed several of this season’s biggest trend notes.
She also introduced new interpretations of staples from the KUG archives like the novel Sarong-sari along with interesting renditions of her pleated line. From dressed down to high glam and from resort to evening or festive wear the collection traversed it all.
Salwar-pants with patch work pockets; skinny cigarette pants; Multilevel Jackets in soft fabrics; sarongs; layered tunics and long column dresses; couture bum bags with hand embroidery, sequins and metallic zardozi work; Kolhapuri wedges in nude camel leather and natural wood; bejeweled hair combs and striking metal ankle cuffs and thumb rings are some of the creations that left a lasting impression.
The line is artful in a way that you just don't find in the more main-stream brands in contemporary wear.
