85th Oscar Academy Awards' costumes on display at FIDM

With all eyes fixated at the forthcoming 85th Oscar Academy Awards, scheduled to take place on February 24, 2013, a sartorial treat for the Hollywood movie lovers is well on its way.

A public exhibition titled Art of Motion Picture Costume Design, displaying a variety of costumes collected from nearly 20 Oscar nominated movies, is starting from February 13, 2013, at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Los Angeles.

The exhibition will feature collections from selected 2012 films, including all five Academy Award nominees for the best Costume Design. These include costumes from films such as A Royal Affair, Anna Karenina, Argo, Django Unchained, Hitchcock, Les Misérables, Lincoln, Mirror Mirror, Skyfall and Snow White and the Huntsman.

Apart from the extraordinary ensembles picked from the movies selected for this year’s Academy awards, the event will also exhibit costumes from the 2011’s French romantic comedy-drama ‘The Artist.’ The film's designer Mark Bridges received the Best Costume Design Award for his incredible creations in the movie.

Started in 1992, the Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition displays and honours the extraordinary creations of costume designers in the film industry.

Established in 1969, FIDM is a private college which offers professional courses on fashion, entertainment, beauty, interior and graphic designing.
