Besides meeting suppliers from across Asia and Europe, visitors will be able to see next season’s fashion trends modelled on the catwalk, displayed in the Trend Forum and Designers’ Studio, and discussed in informative seminars.
Rising Hong Kong fashion designers will showcase their talents
Over the past few months, seven local fashion designers have been using fabrics supplied by 28 exhibitors to create outfits which represent their take on the upcoming fashion trends. These will be paraded in the Fabrics to Fashion Walk fashion shows and then displayed in the Designers’ Studio, allowing visitors to experience the latest trends first-hand. Also in this studio, the winners of the third
Hong Kong Young Knitwear Designers Contest will present their collections. This is co-organised by the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) of Hong Kong. While these seven designers are currently establishing themselves in the local market, Interstoff Asia Essential – Spring also provides a chance for up-and-coming designers to display their talents. A total of 24 exhibitors have partnered with 26 Hong Kong Polytechnic University Master of Arts in Fashion and Textile Design students to create ladieswear and menswear outfits. In addition to being seen on the catwalk, they will also be displayed in the Trend Forum.
Trend displays, product zones and seminars will keep visitors fully informed
In keeping with the focus on providing visitors with the latest fashionable, functional and eco textiles, the Trend Forum will highlight the spring / summer 2014 fashion trends. Ms Sachiko Inoue, a trend expert from Japan, is responsible for the design concept and setup of the forum, which is based on four themes: Serene Spirit, Blue Mood, Sweet Rebel and Expressive Soul. And Interstoff Directions Trend Committee member, Ms Yuko Watanabe, will host special tours explaining the colour, mood and texture trends, as well as giving her perspective on exhibitors’ latest offerings.
Other highlights in the 2013 edition of the fair include the four Asian country / region pavilions: Elite China, Fine Japan, Premium Korea and Amazing Taiwan. The Research & Education Zone also returns again this year featuring unique, cutting-edge garment and textile design applications. And a full programme of seminars is arranged, with topics such as design and trends, technology, sustainability, and certifications and standards. They will be hosted by speakers from around the world, including fromItaly, Japan and the United States.
