Indian footwear industry will get impetus from Italian counterpart as the Indian Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has established an Indian Leather Desk in Milan.
The Desk will help Indian footwear companies in utilizing Italian technology in acquiring top-notch footwear components and also give a chance to export Indian shoes to Italy.
This move will also strengthen Indo-Italian trade relations in the leather sector, stated CLE sources.
Concerned about Indo-Italian cooperation, Mario Pucci, head of the India Leather Desk, organized a meeting with the Agra Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Chamber in Agra to discuss ways in which India and Italy could bolster their footwear industry prospects.
The Leather Desk helps Indian leather companies to compete with their arch rival China, as Indian exports of leather footwear to Italy stands at 6.2 million pairs of shoes against Chinese exports of 6.6 million pairs per year.
