Wet Seal reports February same-store sales jumps 29.3%

Women's specialty retailer Wet Seal Inc has reported that same store sales increased 29.3 percent for the four-week period ended February 25th 2006, compared with an increase of 16.4 percent for the same period, a year ago.
The net sales for the four-week period ended February 25th 2006 were $36.1 million, compared with net sales of $29.9 million for the same period last year, an increase of 20.8 percent.
Joel Waller, CEO of Wet Seal Inc, said, "We are very pleased to report a fourteenth consecutive month of comparable store sales increases, especially against such a strong month last year. In February, we began to compare against double-digit same store sales increases in the prior year period, which will continue to be the case through the remainder of fiscal 2006."
During the four-week period ended February 25th 2006, the company opened one Wet Seal store and closed one Wet Seal store. It operates 308 Wet Seal stores and 92 Arden B. stores.
