Students begin fashion journey at LCF's Summer University

The courses, run by LCF’s Compact Agreement for Progression Scheme (CAPS), help aspiring fashion students take the first steps to study at LCF.

Young students interested in studying fashion image based courses took part in the CAPS Styling, Photography and Make-up course. The dedicated students were introduced to shooting in the studio with analogue and digital photography, and also worked in teams taking on the role of Stylist, Hair and Makeup artist, Creative Director and Photographer.

The budding fashion visionaries were supported by LCF students, Camille Fontaine, BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion, Taylour Gibson and Curtly Thomas, FdA Styling and Photography, and LCF alumna Meena Bhella, BA (Hons) Fashion: Specialist Make-up .

Models were employed to give the students a real taste of working on a professional shoot and by the end of the week, students had completed a variety of studio shoots and created 4 fashion short films.

Meanwhile, FE students with a passion for fashion illustration attended the two week Drawing for Fashion course.

Students got the opportunity to perfect their life drawing and were introduced to lots of different fashion drawing techniques and tricks.

Resisting the temptations of a summer holiday heat wave, the 37 students who took part worked hard to gain the UAL Drawing Award level 3.

Both of the Summer University courses were managed by LCF’s Widening Participation team.

The young students will return to LCF after the holidays to take part in the next CAPS event. It is hoped in the future these students will consider applying to study at higher education.
