Fashion Forward highlights Middle Eastern fashion talents

The best of Middle Eastern fashion industry came together at the recently concluded second season of Fashion Forward (FFWD), a fashion week like showcase held in the progressive Emirati city of Dubai.

More than 21 designers, belonging to countries like Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Oman presented their eclectic collections at the glitzy event.

Fujairah-based designer Shaikha Madiyah Al Sharqi featured the latest Spring/Summer 2014 collection of her eponymous line at the prestigious do. Inspired from the famous French queen Mary Antoinette, the soft, feminine line was full of regal elements like jacquard, lace and embroidery.

Lebanese fashion talent Charbel Zoe drew inspiration from the beautiful tropical fishes and flowers for his new sexy range, comprised of short, skimpy and tight outfits, detailed with metals, pins and crystals.

Indian-born and Dubai-based designer Hema Kaul featured an elegant feminine line made from Italian organza and lace. The collection included high-waisted poufy skirts, flattering cropped sleeveless tops, black one shouldered dresses and tailored pants in blue.

Emirati women’s ready-to-wear label House of Fatam a.k.a. HOF, owned by designers Lamya, Shaima, Fatma and Gargash, presented a luxurious velvet, embroidered chiffon, brocade and raw silk laden collection, with staple pieces like reversible robes and jackets, at the soiree.

Omani Fashion brand Endemage, from designer duo Lubna and Nadia Al Zakwani, once again celebrated the spirit of modern independent woman in its fresh ready-to-wear range of intricately embroidered carefully draped gowns.

In addition to the style studded runways, the glamorous soiree also organized talks on topics ranging from creative entrepreneurship to fashion photography, blogging and journalism.
