Altogether, in the 33rd Portugal Fashion Abstrart, 37 designers and 15 brands (nine brands of clothing and six of footwear) participated at the event, spread over 26 individual fashion shows and 11 collective ones.
As usual, the event is a patchwork of fashion proposals that were quite varied, with protagonists that are very distinct from each other. So, PORTUGAL FASHION showed fashion shows from students of fashion schools, young designers, emerging designers, established fashion designers and brands of clothing and footwear.
As the chairman of the Executive Committee of ANJE (organizer of Portugal Fashion), Manuel Lopes Teixeira ensures: “One of the greatest qualities of Portugal Fashion is its ability to cover a wide range of fashion concepts: from haute-couture to urban ready-to-wear, from the young designer to the established fashion designer, without forgetting the commercial lines of the clothing and footwear industry. Thus, the event is able to reflect the great potential of the Portuguese Fashion Row and hence contribute to its integrated promotion”.
Among the most prestigious designers who were on the catwalk of the Porto´s Alfándega we can find: Anabela Baldaque, Meam by Ricardo Preto, Elisabeth Teixeira, Fátima Lopes, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Luís Buchinho, Luis Onofre, Miguel Vieira (who enjoyed his 25 years as a fashion designer), Katty Xiomara, Diogo Miranda, Carlos Gil, Vicri,, Lion of Porches and Dielmar.
Also worthy of note are the fashion shows of young designers Daniela Barros, Estelita Mendonça, Hugo Costa and Susana Bettencourt, who, for the first time moved from Espaço Bloom (Bloom Space) - a platform dedicated to discovering new fashion talents – to the major runway of the event. As Manuel Lopes Teixeira stresses.
“The maturity, quality and aesthetic relevance of these young artists’ work justify a greater visibility in the set-up of Portugal Fashion. Moreover, the designers in question already have experience in international events with the support of Portugal Fashion, in which they impressed the expert audience”.
Under a great expectation, Felipe Oliveira Baptiste (Lacoste´s official designer) closed the program of fashion shows on the 26th of October at midnight with an excellent collection, practical and minimalistic.
