After invading Milan, the fall-winter 2014/15 menswear showcase has arrived at its next destination Paris which has just wrapped up its first day of male fashion celebration with style studded catwalk shows from names like Valentino and Raf Simons.

Roman fashion house Valentino started its Paris Menswear Fashion Week show with a heavy on patchwork collection for smart urban men. Accentuated with Aztec-like motifs and ethnic embroidery, the ensembles were based on a palette of camel, gray, indigo blue, brown and black tones.

Co-designed by the brand’s joint creative directors, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, the collection included peacoats, shearling coats, hunting jackets, fur capes and heavy woollen outerwear.

Belgian designer Raf Simons (who also is the creative director of Parisian fashion house Dior) showcased a range, designed in collaboration with the famous American artist Sterling Ruby, on the opening day of the Parisian event.

The one-off collaborative catwalk venture featured both punk and graphic inspired pieces, replete with a wicked witch’s hands and jagged nails motifs. The chunky oversized bleached ensembles, in colours like black, red, off-white and green, were enhanced with fabric appliqués and diagonal stripes.

The works of Hungarian photographer Brassaï played inspiration behind French brand Carven’s 36-piece line. Created by Guillaume Henry, the graffiti print heavy collection included tapered ankle pants, 1960s style tweeds, buttoned woollen jackets and classical button-up shirts.
