London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2014 comes to an end

After a non-stop five-day deliverance of high octane catwalk shows, the London Fashion Week (LFW) has finally bid adieu to the British capital till its next edition in September, 2014.

Amidst all the style studded runway presentations on the final day, the young 27-year-old designer Simone Rocha’s Autumn/Winter 2014 show was one of the most standout ones. The Dublin-born British designer, who is also the daughter of talented fashion stalwart John Rocha, took inspiration from the Elizabethan era for her very modern yet original collection.

Made using materials like bonded neoprene, wool, and pony and snake skins, the line included voluminous dresses with beaded necklines, full skirt suits teamed with ruffled sleeve blouses, frilly belted jackets and simple and functional workwear.

Staying true to her signature boyish elegance tailoring sensibilities, fashion designer Zoë Jordan created her womenswear line Chicane. Inspired from the motor racing sports, the quilted leather made range featured several innovative interpretations of driving suits worn by the racers and emblem-covered tops.

Fashion East, the non-profit initiative which supports emerging designers by giving them visibility at the LFW platform, showcased creations from newbie talents like Ashley Williams, Helen Lawrence and Louise Alsop.

Ashley’s line featured an array of sequined knits, kitten print slip dresses paired with metallic bonnets, dungarees and quirky slogan written pieces.

The Central Saint Martins grad Helen presented a knit and leather mixed collection of sportswear-inspired luxe ensembles such as mohair skirts, asymmetrical dresses and deconstructed jackets in pastel shades.

Westminster University alumnus Louise went all grungy in her latest creations. The 1990’s inspired collection showcased oversized T-shirts and sweatshirts, patch-work chiffon dresses and strappy slips with tile prints.
