Latvian designers opened the 20th edition of Riga Fashion Week (RFW) with their exquisite varieties of Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collections.

Paviljons’ took inspiration from several natural elements such as seashore, fog, birch trees and wintery months for its wet and windy climate appropriate collection, made from wool, cotton, linen and water and wind proof breathable synthetic materials.

Latvian label Anna LED was inspired by the legends of mysterious, romantic fairy nymphs for its latest catwalk presentation. Made using tweed, wool, velvet, mohair and crocheted fabrics, the line was adorned with fine embroidery, rich textures and prints. The featured pieces included knitted dresses, skirts, suits, chunky cardigans, tops and voluminous coats accessorised with lace belts and scarves.

Other than Paviljons and Anna LED, the opening day of RFW also showcased a collection inspired from French author Marcel Proust’s novel ‘In Search of Lost Time’ from the fashion brand QooQoo and an exquisite feminine line Katy Shehurina.

Slated to run through April 5, 2014, the Latvian event will also showcase creations from other Baltic region countries like Estonia and Lithuania.
