More than ten young Indonesian designers are stepping forward in the international fashion scene under the Indonesian Fashion Forward (IFF) program, a year-long training that aims to educate the participants about several fashion business-related topics.

In the coming days, the up and coming local design names will be mentored by the experts of the Centre for Fashion Enterprise (CFE) in London.

The selected designers under the IFF program are Patrick Owen, Sapto Djojokartiko, Jii by Gloria Agatha, Restu Anggraini, Tertia, F Budi, Monstore, Rosalyn Citta, Billy Tjong, Anditta Siswandi, Norma Moi and Peggy Hartanto.

The London phase of the education program will help the designers to identify problems and the solutions that bar their business growth, which will ultimately enable the labels to achieve worldwide recognition.

The mentorship program also imparts knowledge about the important aspects of the fashion business, including planning, legal procedures, financing and pricing, sales strategy, marketing and public relations.

The training project is a collaborative effort between the Jakarta Fashion Week, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, as well as the British Council to promote Indonesian fashion on the global stage.

The previous two instalments of IFF has produced some big names, such as Major Minor, Tex Saverio, Toton, Kurniawan Dwi Jehoshaphat, Vinora, Nur Zahra and Jenahara, which have gained international reputation.

Designer Tex Saverio has showcased even at the Paris Fashion Week, and his designs are being sold at leading department stores like Harvey Nichols.
