Blumerq sees 30% rise in demand for Chinos over jeans

Blumerq, a rising men’s casual apparel brand have witnessed an ever increasing demand for the Chinos of over 30% over jeans in the last 6 to 8 months. 
 
One of the renowned e-commerce portal is currently offering 1409 items of men’s trousers/chinos, whereas only 1007 items of men’s Jeans. This demand gap highlights that the popularity of Chinos weigh more than denims in the current scenario. One more leading competitor in the e-commerce space is also reporting a similar trend where denims are getting replaced by non-denim cotton trousers, which have grown by 120% in the past year. Van Heusen's range of colored trousers accounted for close to 60% of its entire trouser collection. 
 
Today, the colored trousers (chinos) have become a rage among Indian men. Made from strong cotton twill, Chinos has broken into the fortress and is going straight for the undisputed name in the men’s fashion – Jeans.
 
Mr. Joseph Muthaiyan, CEO, Blumerq opines, “We have received an immense response for Chinos this year and surprisingly it has surpassed the sales figure of denims. I believe that this change is here to stay for a long time as people are bored of putting up the same old blue and black jeans. Chinos offer variety of colors allowing people to experiment according to the occasion and the need”.
 
There is no doubt that Jeans has been ruling the market ever since we know about it. It may not be wrong to say that Jeans is the only attire which is accepted and wore across the world. Jeans is one item that you would find in almost every person’s wardrobe. But no one would have ever thought that Jeans would be replaced by some other item in their wardrobe. Style is slowly relinquishing its attachment to the cloth, the replacement – Chinos.
 
Chinos have ascended in fashion’s cycles from their smart standing original into a classy yet fashionable item worn by all from business men in their downtime to students partying the night away. Jeans are passing from being the nations beloved into the nation’s question mark! 
 
Last year for the first time since Topman opened in 1978, chinos outsold their jeans. With the reputed brands coming up with wide range of Chinos and promoting them to a greater extent, there can be no ignoring the fate of denim. Topman website offers 170 products under the banner of casual trousers/chinos, yet only 100 under jeans; a margin of 70 different products is by no means sheer coincidence.
