Indonesia's Surabaya to host Asian Fashion Week

Surabaya, the second-largest city of Indonesia, is gearing up to host the forthcoming Asian Fashion Week 2014, a platform designed to provide international exposure to Asian labels while developing global reach for their expansion which will eventually lead to economic growth and understanding on the principal of fair and free trade
 
Scheduled to take place from August 15th to 18th, 2014, the event will highlight Asian cultural diversity and would encourage linkages in the continent through the development of its respective fashion industries.
 
The soiree will also aim to create an internationally-recognized quality Asian Style Brand through innovative, unique and intricate fashion apparel and accessory designs. 
 
 
The fashion do will additionally serve as a representative for Asian labels in the placement, consignment and sales of their designs in Stores worldwide.
 
A special importance on women empowerment through encouraging the participation of Asian women within the fashion and textile industry would also be given.
 
Countries like Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordania, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives and Mongolia will participate in the event.
 
Also Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam  and Yemen will be a part of the extravaganza.
 
The opening day of the prestigious do will host six shows from names belonging to Indonesia and Sri Lanka whereas the second day would see some seven catwalk shows from India, Russia and Sri Lanka.
