Fashion industry blooming

Fashion industry emerged as a major source of income for Thailand for past several years and has been blooming since.
By October 2005, the exports reached around US $137.5 million representing almost 5.2 percent year-on-year growth.
The inclusion of Thailand Fashion Roadshow in the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, where brands like Playhound Kloset, Sretsis and Tube Gallery were displayed, has led to government increase focus on the industry.
Programs have been organized to further develop the industry incuding the textile, garments and jewellery sectors that have contributed significantly to country's economy.
Besides, the high profile 'Bangkok City Project' involves increasing the development and competitiveness of the overall Thai fashion industry.
Playhound and Kloset have developed a 'simple and chic' themed label that has a slight touch of revolution.
Thai designs showcased at international events emphasized youth and modern look that was refreshing with a distinctive traditional feel.
