Hyderabad-based designer Anushree Reddy featured her latest bridal line The Royal Courtyard on the fourth day of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 (LFW SR 2015).

Celebrating the royal grandeur and opulence of Nizams, the collection showcased heavily embellished wedding attires, made using lightweight net, georgette, silk and sheer tulle, all enhanced with lush traditional embroidery techniques like shimmering gold and antique metallic silver Zardosi, beading and twinkling crystals.

Replete with glittering hemlines and brocade lining, some of the standouts from the range were a fiery red or pink lehenga, a white swirling lehenga with contrasting toned pleats and some dainty floral print lehengas, cholis and dupattas set in shades of soft peach, light pink, warm blush and caramel.

Like Reddy, designer Arpita Mehta also incorporated regal themed elements in her The Royal Summer Affair collection. A scintillating presentation of glamour and style, the ethereal line was created in ethnic silhouettes highlighted with hues of cream and nude along with splashes of bright pop tones including royal pink, indigo, lime green and peachy coral.

Decorated with appliquéd mirrorwork flowers, innovative geometric georgette and gota designs, major highlights of the range were a nude net lehenga paired with a sequinned peplum blouse, a textured saree teamed with a tiny bikini top, ponchos and shorts with embroidered edges, and an off-shoulder embroidered mini with drop sleeves. Mehta also unveiled a limited edition line of handmade embroidered shoes called Bedazzle.

Sonam and Paras Modi of SVA brand brought the grandeur and colours of Turkey to the runways of LFWSR 2015. Called Istanblu, the collection featured motifs inspired from the Asil harems, intricate carvings of Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque and hues of Bosphorus.

Made using silk, tulle, cotton, brocade and hand-woven weaves, the palette consist rich hues of off-white, old rose, mint, burnt orange, midnight blue and gold. Enhanced with laser cut details, prints and the zardosi, pita and aari embroidered patterns of Turkish flower pot Saksi, the womenswear collection offered long jackets, boleros, draped pants with ankle accents, sexy mini kurtas, cropped tops, lehengas, traditional sarees and a pair of draped Origami lounge pants.

The menswear entry included bandgalas, kurtas, summer jackets and a new shirt-cum-jacket combo called Shacket, ideal for casual and formal summer weddings. (PB)
