Maredimoda, the French trade fair dedicated to lingerie and beachwear textiles and accessories, will launch an innovative trend forecasting forum at its upcoming 14th edition which will take place in Cannes from November 3 to 5, 2015.

The forum will showcase curated samples of 2017 fashions, based on forecasts made by Mardeimoda Trend Board, a new project comprising a joint working team of IED (Istituto Europeo di Design meaning European Institute of Design), global trend forecasting agency WGSN, and David Shah, publisher at Metropolitan Publishing BV (Textile View, View2, Viewpoint, PantoneView Colour Planner, Textile View Viff China).

To be coordinated by Francesca Tottoli and Anna Rogg from IED Business Hub, the project will kick off with a press conference and a round table discussion featuring all the team members and MarediModa representatives on April 2nd, 2015 at IED’s Milan centre.

The assignment will be executed through three main steps- WGSN will first suggest four Spring/Summer 2017 themes for beachwear and two for innerwear, Shah will contribute by tracing the key sociological aspects likely to influence 2017 styles and colours, and finally IED team will decide whether to develop and complete the proposed macro trends through ideas, tips and remarks.

Results from the collaborative trend forecast will be presented later before an audience of MarediModa’s exhibitors in Como and Barcelona. The exhibitors will eventually use this information to develop their collections which would be presented at the trend forum in November, 2015.

The IED team will include four students selected from various locations of IED school group including Rome, Turin, Venice, Como, Florence, Cagliari, San Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona and Madrid. (PB)
