Parkson Suria KLCC, the Malaysian-owned department store reached its height in fame when it opened in Subang Parade in the 1990s.

Parkson is not a name anyone associates with luxury goods but it's more like a family store.

But that facade of Parkson is slowly changing as its city store in Suria KLCC is emerging as the new luxury store to house international brands previously unavailable in the country.

There is a total revamp and re-branding of Parkson Suria KLCC with more up market, international brands and more shopping excitement for urban shoppers.

However, Parkson suburban stores and those outside the Klang Valley shall remain targeted for family shopping to retain the Malaysian heritage even though they have ventured out to Vietnam and China.

The group has 40 stores in China while it started operations in the country, only five years ago and has also in Ho Chi Minh City.

In Kuala Lumpur, its KLCC store carries names such as the Bali-based Canadian designer John Hardy, purveyor of bold gold and silver jewelry, whose fans include Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna and Penelope Cruz.
