The impact of these marketing actions not only contributes to Grendene's intangible assets, by strengthening its institutional image and underlining its social and environmental commitment, but will also help expand the company's export volume.
Ipanema GB sandals and flip-flops will initially be sold in department stores, such as El Corte Inglés in Spain, Galeries Lafayette in France and Kaufhof in Germany, but based on the current selling base of other Grendene brands already exporting, such as Rider, Grendha and Ipanema, we believe the line has potential for a further 20,000 points of sale outside Brazil.
Exports of Ipanema GB began in the last quarter of 2006, and some 700,000 pairs were sold in 2006 alone. We estimate our potential sales in 2007 at 1.5 million pairs, in more than 30 countries – contributing about 5% of Grendene's total export volume in the first year, for an average price to the consumer of around US$30.00 per pair.
Grendene is one of the world's largest producers of footwear from synthetic materials, with gross annual sales of R$ 1.4 billion, representing about 19% of the domestic Brazilian footwear market, and 17.5% of Brazil's total footwear export volume, in 2006.
