Women's clothier Chico's Aug same-store sales up

Women's clothier Chico's FAS Inc reported August sales results for the four-week period ended August 27, 2005, increased 32.0 percent to $101.5 million from $76.9 million reported for the prior year's four-week period ended August 28, 2004. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 14.0 percent for the four-week period ended August 27, 2005, compared to the same four-week period last year.

For the thirty weeks ended August 27, 2005, total sales increased 31.1 percent to $772 million from $588 million for the same period a year ago. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 13.3 percent for the thirty-week period compared to the same thirty-week period last year.

Casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, complementary accessories, and other non-clothing gift items retailer The Chico's FAS operates 715 women's specialty stores, including stores in 47 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico operating under the Chico's, White House | Black Market and Soma by Chico's names.

The Company owns 477 Chico's front-line stores, 28 Chico's outlet stores, 182 White House | Black Market front-line stores, 5 White House | Black Market outlet stores and 10 Soma by Chico's stores; franchisees own and operate 13 Chico's stores.
