Boscov's incorporate Planalytics tool into merchandise Opts

Planalytics Inc announced that Boscov's Department Stores has licensed its Business Weather Intelligence Platform. Boscov's will use Planalytics to analyze, quantify and predetermine the impact that weather has on its business and the sales of specific seasonal products.

“We look forward to helping Boscov's incorporate Business Weather Intelligence into its merchandise planning and operations,” stated Michael Manoogian, Senior Vice President of Retail for Planalytics. “With Planalytics' analyses and tools, Boscov's will be able to identify and capture opportunities for increased sales and minimize weather related risks to its business.”

Through the Business Weather Intelligence Platform, Boscov's will utilize Planalytics Planner to include weather-driven demand factors in its forecasting process for specific product categories.

Boscov's will also receive Planalytics' weekly Executive WeatherBrief, a report highlighting the effects of weather during the previous week and coming two week period, and have access to Planalytics Direct Access, a tool that enables companies to access location-specific information such as normal temperatures, comparisons to previous years, day counts and amounts of precipitation and other custom weather data.

Boscov's Department Stores is the largest full-line, family owned independent department store in the country, operating 50 stores across six states in the Mid Atlantic region. Boscov's stocks a full range of brand-name merchandise from fashion items for men, women and children to a complete line of home furnishings.
