The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens the exhibit Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy on May 7, 2008. To celebrate the opening of the exhibition, the Museum's Costume Institute Gala Benefit takes place on Monday, May 5, 2008.

Giorgio Armani, Honorary Chair of the Costume Institute's Gala dinner, is joined by his friends and co-chairs George Clooney, Julia Roberts and others including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, David and Victoria Beckham, John Mayor, Camilla Belle and Ziyi Zhang.

Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy will feature approximately 60 ensembles including movie costumes, avant-garde haute couture, and high-performance sportswear to reveal how the superhero serves as the ultimate metaphor for fashion and its ability to empower and transform the human body.

In addition to the gala, during his 48 hours in New York, Giorgio Armani will visit New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), receive a Global Fashion Leadership Award from the Couture Council of the Museum of FIT and visit the site of Armani/Fifth Avenue, his fifth concept store.
