Damas, leading international jewellery retailer in the Middle East, hosted a grand jewellery parade on the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of the Italian Republic Day, at Safina Ballroom – Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group; Sheikh Jumaa bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Dr Hadef bin Joaan Al Dhahry, Minister of Justice, Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director of Damas, and Roberto Vagni, Italian Consul General, graced the event.

Others who enjoyed the National Day celebrations and accompanying Damas fashion fiesta included officials from the government of Dubai, over 500 VIPs, members of the diplomatic corp and a large number of media personnel.

The unique event was held to commemorate Damas' close affinity with the Government of Italy as several of Damas' jewellery brands originate from Italy.

The packed National Day reception was welcomed by Consul General Roberto Vagani. Speaking on the occasion, he said: "We thank all the producers and importers of first quality Italian products to the Middle East who have always given a new life and meaning to our feelings.

Among these important importers is Damas and its Managing Director, Tawhid Abdullah, whose name I would specially like to mention as he is a great friend of Italy.

Damas has introduced more than 40 Italian jewellery brands in this country and has injected enormous momentum to Italian jewellery exports in the Middle East.
