PRC student James Burrow's success at fashion show

Style and creativity flowed as Peterborough Regional College students secured a 1st and joint 2nd place at The University of Northampton's Lilley Allen Fashion competition earlier this month.

The brief of the competition was to design an outfit/dress with a fuchsia pink theme to be worn (hypothetically) at Glastonbury by the popstar, Lily Allen. The participants had to submit one A4 fashion illustration of the design worn on the body, plus manufacture one outfit/dress in a standard size 12.

Judging took place earlier this month by a panel of University Fashion staff and sponsors of the Graduate Fashion Show and as a result James Burrow, a National Diploma in Art and Design student at the PRC, amazed the judges with his design and won 1st prize.

James will get an exciting afternoon VIP package to The University of Northampton's annual Graduate Fashion Show which takes place on 18 June, at the prestigious Royal & Derngate in Northampton where James' outfit will be on public display. He will then have lunch with VIPs, receive a bag of fashion goodies and have a trophy presented to him on the catwalk.

James said “I first heard the announcement that I had won broadcasted on Hightrees FM. It came as a big shock but I was so excited. I had been preparing for the competition for around 2 months as well as doing other work for my course so to find out I had won out of all the entrants was so rewarding. I am really looking forward to going to the Graduate Fashion Show 2008”.

James will be attending the University of Westminster in September, where the renowned fashion designer Vivienne Westwood attended. Joint 2nd prize was awarded to Kelly Graham and Dawn Fuller who are also doing the National Diploma in Art and Design at PRC. Kelly has been accepted into Middlesex University for September and Dawn was the winner of PRC's Trashion Fashion show 2007.
