Orient Craft Fashion Institute of Technology (OCFIT, Hyderabad established by Orient Craft Ltd has joined hands with handloom, sericulture and handicraft sector under the Department of Industry, Andhra Pradesh to open satellite training centres offering fashion design courses without leaving their hometowns.

This collaboration will help provide training in apparel designing, pattern cutting and manufacturing technology for knit garments at the upcoming institutes. The main centers will be set up in Ranchi and Jamshedpur, whereas Chandil and Seraikela district will have satellite centers, to cater the needs of local aspiring designers.

OCFIT has come up with 17 different courses that range from two months to one year and these centers will start functioning within two months. These programmes are planned keeping in mind, the number of students opting for fashion related courses these days.

The authorities plan to have nearly 1000 seats in main institutes and around 600 at satellite centers in the first academic year. One of the reasons that give edge to OCFIT over other contemporary fashion institutes is that the aspiring student need not have finished his formal schooling for taking admission here.

The Government will provide the building to run the centers whereas Orient institute will supply the machines for smooth functioning of the institutes. The authorities have also signed an agreement with OCFIT, for providing 100 percent placement for worthy students.

Orient Craft Ltd is a Gurgaon-based textile and clothing export Company that aims to take the apparel and fashion sector of the nation to greater heights.
