Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) and The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced the admissions for their 4-year degree courses in Fashion Design (FD), Textile Design (TD) and Fashion Merchandising & Production (FMP). Admissions are open for 4-year distance-education degree programmes for the year 2008- 2012.
These distance-learning courses will become a medium to the students from smaller cities to grow in the field of fashion industry. PAF's quality education and IGNOU's credible accreditation will provide the best education to the students of these courses.
The last date for submission of applications is 27th August 2008 and courses will commence on 13th September 08.
Prof. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU said, “This is the first time that IGNOU has tied-up with any fashion institute for programme delivery and we are happy to be associated with PAF. The initiative will help many aspiring students living away from metropolitan cities. Now, they have one more option to pursue their dreams of getting into the fashion world.”
“Pearl Academy of Fashion constantly works towards providing their students with complete knowledge on fashion industry. The courses offered with IGNOU are aimed to reach those who wish to acquire specialized skills and knowledge necessary for their career progression in the Fashion sectors.”, said Mr. A K G Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion.
PAF's validation agreements and international exchange programmes with the UK's Nottingham Trent University (NTU), Germany's LDT, Nagold, world's highly recognized institutes in fashion and retail education; NHL University, Holland; Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong; and others in UK, enables the institute to keep pace with emerging global trends.
Through such arrangements, the Academy provides a unique opportunity for its students to acquire international experience. International agreements even permit students to continue further studies with these universities.
In order to keep its curriculum market-oriented, PAF has instituted an Advisory Board which consists of leading exporters, industrialists, retailers and academia, who constantly review its progress to ensure that its programmes are practical and industry-oriented.
