Couromoda opens business season for footwear industry

The 36th edition of COUROMODA International Shoes, Sportsgoods and Leathergoods Fair will be held from 12 to 15 January 2009, at the Anhembi Park, in the city of São Paulo, showcasing new fashion collections of 1,200 manufacturers of all types of footwear, sneakers, bags, sportsgoods and traveling luggage, garments and fashion accessories.

Couromoda, the leading sectorial fair in Latin America, will occupy 80 thousand m2 of exhibition area, and opens the business season for the industry of footwear, accessories and garments, thus calling in retailers and distributors from all over Brazil, as well as importers from over 70 countries.

Couromoda the biggest showcase of the Brazilian footwear industry exhibits over 3 thousand brand novelties, with goods that will supply the retail market over the following seasons.

The collections launched during the fair feature collections for the fall/winter season and also for high summer, aiming to meet the needs of the retailers of all the regions of Brazil and of the international buyers.

The Fair in Figures
• 1,200 exhibitors
• 80,000 m² of exhibition space
• 77,000 professional visits
• 75 visiting countries

Almost 25% of total Brazilian footwear yearly sales are concluded or started at the fair. And it is Couromoda that setsoff the leather-footwear chain at the beginning of the year.

Last January, the event hosted 77 thousand visits of retailers, manufacturers, importers and professionals of the leather and footwear chain.

These buyers signed R$6 billion purchase orders, in deals concluded at the fair and others for the following 30 days.

The 36th edition of Couromoda to be held next January will be fully renovated, visually as well as in the range of services offered. “We have a more mature, modern market, with new consumption habits and new rules.

It is in this context that we are preparing Couromoda 2009 and we shall once again surprise the trade, with actions that foster exhibitors to enhance their presentation and enthuse the retailers to schedule their purchases safely”, stressed Francisco Santos, founder and president of Couromoda.
