dmg world media announced strong attendance at the 47th annual Original Miami Beach Antique Show held January 22 – 26, 2009, at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla.

The Original Miami Beach Antique Show featured more than 1,000 national and internationally renowned exhibitors. Some of the most prominent dealers hailed from London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Geneva, Brussels, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, as well as Buenos Aires, Tokyo, and Sydney.

“We are happy with this year's attendance at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show, especially during today's tight economy,” said Andrea Canady, fair director for dmg world media's Original Miami Beach Antique Show. “This year's show featured an impressive line-up of one-of-a-kind antiques including furniture, paintings, porcelain, glass, silver and jewelry.”

While at the show, numerous collectors visited Gary Piattoni, Dave McCarron and Joyce Jonas for free appraisals on a wide variety of antiques. Everything from antique broaches to swords were brought in to have their value assessed by the veteran appraisers often seen on the hit series Antiques Roadshow.

Additionally, the Original Miami Beach Antique show randomly selected five lucky winners who took our onsite survey to receive a $500 American Express gift card.

Exhibitors at the show had favorable reports with regard to attendance and sales.

Michael Sams, owner of Michael E. Sams Antiques & Interiors in Corydon, Ind., said, “This continues to be the best show on the circuit with knowledgeable customers and dealers. We saw a steady rush of people throughout the show, which enabled us to talk and develop relationships with the public and other dealers.”

“Exhibitors, dealers and the public can make some extraordinary finds often at very good prices. The show covers a vast array of subjects from jewelry to paintings and furniture to silver,” said Nicholas Harris, formerly proprietor of Nicholas Harris Gallery in London and a regular exhibitor for approximately 30 years at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show.

The 2010 Original Miami Beach Antique Show is set for January 21–25, 2010. The next show on the U.S. calendar for dmg is the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry & Watch Show scheduled for May 28-June 1, 2009, at the Bally's in Las Vegas. This show is only open to those in the trade. The next public show is the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show held July 24-27, 2009, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City.
