Showcase of senior fashion collections at Fashion Columbia

Columbia College Chicago brings its school year to an end with the annual celebration of Fashion Columbia and LAUNCH.
On Tuesday, May 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Michelle Alegria ('97) of ABC's 190 North and Susanna Negovan, editor in chief of Michigan Avenue magazine will host Fashion Columbia at the Harold Washington Library Winter Garden, 400 S. State Street, 9th Floor. (Reception: 11:30 a.m. Lunch and Fashion Show: 12 p.m.)
Fashion Columbia will be preceded by a Patrons' Party on Monday, May 11, hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue from 5 to 7 p.m. Columbia College alumnus and WGN's Entertainment/Critic Reporter Dean Richards ('76) will host the event.
Proceeds from the fashion show and lunch benefit the Nena Ivon Scholarship Fund for fashion design and fashion retail management. Columbia College alumnus and local fashion designer Anna Fong ('01) will give a fashion preview at the Patrons' Party. Project Runway's Terri Stevens (also a graduate) will attend both events.
Fashion Columbia is an annual juried fashion show that showcases the senior collections of 13 fashion design students. Students are selected by a group of Chicago's leading fashion industry professionals.
On Friday, May 15 a new tradition will begin as part of college's Manifest urban arts festival: LAUNCH! LAUNCH is a runway fashion show that features the work of the college's graduating fashion design and fashion retail management students. The show is produced by students from both disciplines who are enrolled in Decision Making: Fashion/Retail Management under the guidance of Dianne Erpenbach.
LAUNCH will be held at 618 S. Michigan Ave., 2nd Floor. The matinee show begins at 1 p.m. and the evening show will start at 5:30 p.m.
