conjunction with social and cultural developments, also in terms of their impact on shoes and accessories. GDS trend themes crystallise from this that then run as a common thread through GDS in the form of shows, varied trend installations, seminars and workshops.

GDS Lifestyle Worlds summarised into Themes
Being proactive in the general economic climate is decisive for GDS' success in these difficult market times: “We consciously advised our exhibitors to reduce stand space,” explained Kirstin Deutelmoser. “Nothing would have been worse for the mood across the entire shoe sector if suppliers had withdrawn from a marketplace like GDS due to the uncertain economic situation. At present it is crucial to maintain personal dialogue between trade and industry.”

The space reductions also made it possible to summarise the GDS lifestyle worlds more strongly into themed worlds and thereby achieve even better visitor orientation. The 'Trends Onstage' show centre will be located in Hall 2. Now representing the strongest section at GDS are young and trendy young brands (+16% on September 2008): the three urban areas at GDS with their varied lifestyle worlds of street fashion, urbanwear and denim brands can be found grouped together in Hall 3. This is also where Design Attack's creative newcomer collections congregate. The progressive brands in the White Cubes community will now all attract a discerning audience together with the two other premium areas Upper Style and Prime Square, located altogether in concentrated form in Hall 4.

Famous high-quality international brands will again be featured in the Superior segment in Hall 5 which, together with Hall 6's renowned exhibitors in the Essential section, form the backbone of GDS. Exhibitors featuring children's shoe brands are located with Kidwalk in Hall 7a. Shop & Deco exhibitors as well as bag and accessories in the Bagccess Zone will remain in Hall 7.0.
