Inspired by her travels and the beautiful crafts of India, Anupama Dayal once again presented one of the most feminine and interesting collections for Spring/Summer 2010 at Lakme Fashion Week.

Playing creatively with the colours of India, Anupama had a line of pretty dresses which she fused with western silhouettes to present a delightful collection called “Joie” (Joy in French). Colours blossomed on the ramp with blue, electric, cobalt, lavender, violet, nude, light green, burnt toffee, scarlet, crimson and fluoro pink for gently swaying and softly clinking chanderis, voiles, chikankari, tissues and satins for day and cocktail dresses, some elegant gowns, tunics, skirts, cropped pants and just one sari. Embellishments were sparingly used with sequins, chunky wooden beads, mirrors, metallic flowers and ribbons, cut dana work and graphic prints, which all added to the look of the collection.

The blue satin fairaisle printed dress with a single pouch pocket and chiffon tie back, the amethyst poncho style dress with appliquéd tie belt, the violet fully sequined strappy dress with large side pockets, sequined draped pants, hot pink satin dress with printed columns of camellia and asymmetric sides were some of the scene stealers. When it comes to blending the ethnic sensibilities of India and the silhouettes of the west; Anupama Dayal is quite an expert season after season.

From strong fashion touches that reflected the 21st century woman to the glamorous sexy diva look; Swapnil Shinde's collection was a mix of the tough with the delicate, for clothes that had colourful touches but were with very strong lines.

“Fantasy” was a strong inspiration for Swapnil as he visualized his creations for damsels in distress being rescued from towers. Bringing in a mix of casual and formal wear in an extensive colour range that started with pure white and stark black and then moved to grape purple, dahlia, light cerulean blue, aqua, pink, spruce, umber, true blue and marine for organza, satin, chiffon and Lycra, which were often crushed, draped and textured for attention, the designer stuck to a figure hugging silhouette. While the look slanted towards the western genre; it was those occasional Indian touches that made the creations outstanding. The little black dress got a new millennium look, when Swapnil made a short balloon version with white stone and sequin work; while the classic blazer and the pea coat almost resembled a dress.

The zipper was once again used extensively as a detailing and appeared prominently on different parts of the garments. From cute cocktail dresses to rompers and minis, to long sultry fluid swirling gowns; the collection was fit for evenings when the need to attract attention is very important Urvashi Sharma, the Bollywood Star in a glamorous gold gown, was a fitting show stopper for Swapnil's Shinde collection that was young, slightly unconventional but made a firm fashion statement.
