FN PLATFORM to support global footwear industry

FN PLATFORM Global Footwear will launch in February 2010 at the MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas. A comprehensive event for Men's, Women's and Children's footwear, FN PLATFORM is a joint venture of Advanstar Communications, Fairchild Fashion Group and Footwear News.

With over 600 footwear brands currently at MAGIC, FN PLATFORM will complement and expand MAGIC's existing offering for footwear brands and buyers. Complete with its own aesthetic, strategic partners, networking events and seminars, FN PLATFORM will support the global footwear industry like no other trade event has before.

In the true spirit of "one-stop-shopping" FN PLATFORM will be an easily navigated forum for dedicated footwear retailers and department and specialty store apparel buyers alike. It will offer a rich and comprehensive footwear presence during the MAGIC Marketplace - showcasing a wide variety of men's, women's and children's footwear -- rounding-out the MAGIC Marketplace experience for retailers and providing them with a single destination for the totality of their buying needs.

"We saw an opportunity to expand our existing footwear presence with FN PLATFORM by providing footwear brands and buyers the opportunity to grow and prosper in an environment that suits their needs like no other show can," said Chris DeMoulin, President of MAGIC International and Executive Vice-President, Advanstar Fashion Group. "The MAGIC Marketplace provides a 360 degree view of what's happening in the fashion industry, and expanding our successful WWD partnership with Fairchild to create FN PLATFORM is a natural evolution."

"We're calling this FN Platform for a good reason," said Richard Beckman, President & CEO, Fairchild Fashion Group. "It will expand the MAGIC Marketplace and provide a state-of-the-art platform for buyers and sellers in the global footwear industry. Building off the success of WWD MAGIC, we're evolving our partnership with Advanstar to create a powerful service for the industry."

Leading the charge will be Leslie Gallin, Vice President, Footwear for Advanstar's Fashion Group. Prior to joining Advanstar in June, Leslie served as Director of The Collections at World Shoe Association (WSA) & Sole Commerce (ENK International), where she created and managed all aspects of the Designer /Luxury Footwear & Accessories business for the WSA/ENK.

Rounding out her team, Leslie is joined by two former WSA sales staffers. Belinda Pina, Footwear Sales Coordinator and Sharon Barbosa, Footwear Sales Representative. Also on the team is John Ruffo, Footwear Sales Representative.

"Leslie's creativity, experience and network will bring great resources, brands and vitality to FN PLATFORM - further enabling our attendees to maximize their time and resources," said Chris DeMoulin, MAGIC International President and Executive Vice President of Advanstar's Fashion Group.

Every August and February, the fashion industry converges in Las Vegas for the most influential event in the business - the MAGIC Marketplace. The February 2010 MAGIC marketplace will run from February 16 - 18.
