SUMMIT on the SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro

Performance eyewear maker, Revo, announced it has signed on as supporting partner and exclusive eyewear provider for January's philanthropic expedition, SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro.

Grammy-nominated musician, Kenna, masterminded SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro which is an ascent of Tanzania's highest peak to raise awareness of the clean water crisis that affects more than one-billion people worldwide. Kicking off, January 7th, the expedition will also raise funds for the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and Water For People's PlayPumps Technology.

Kenna's unique approach to driving social and environmental change has inspired many of his influential friends to join the 19,340-foot climb including Jessica Biel, Lupe Fiasco, Emile Hirsch, Isabel Lucas, Santigold, Elizabeth Gore, Kick Kennedy, Michael Muller, Simon Isaacs, Bernise Ang, Melissa Arnot, Dr. Greg Allgood, Jason Walsh, and Revo Ambassadors Alexandra Cousteau and Jimmy Chin.

"Water is one of the most critical issues of our time," says global water advocate Alexandra Cousteau. "Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will be hard, but solving the water crisis will be even harder. It's exciting for me to be a part of this undertaking which I hope will be a catalyst for change; generating awareness for the issues and inspiring people to be part of the solution."

"I have always believed that a single individual with passion and vision can have a tremendous impact on the world," continues acclaimed mountaineer, photographer and environmental activist Jimmy Chin. "When Kenna explained what he was trying to do, I knew he was going to make something great happen. I am totally honored to join such an amazing team of influencers and educators, and through this climb I hope we can raise awareness for the water issues facing countries in Africa and beyond."

Throughout the seven day, fifty mile ascent of the world's tallest freestanding mountain, the climbers will undoubtedly be pushed to the limit as they face extreme conditions. To ensure their eyes receive maximum protection against dangerous UV rays and snow glare, climbers will be outfitted with Revo sunglasses that feature industry-best polarized lens technology and advanced, lightweight frame materials for all-day comfort and superior performance.

At Revo, sustainable and eco-friendly practices are a major initiative. This commitment to the environment is exemplified through Revo Re-Use technology which is incorporated into select frames within the Revo Polarcast collection - including several frames climbers will wear. The result is an assortment of unisex sunglasses precision molded from 100% recycled pre-consumer nylon plastics that are designed to have a big impact on the eyes with little impact on the environment.

In keeping with the spirit of Kenna's philanthropic expedition, beginning January 1st and concluding March 22nd on World Water Day, Sunglass Hut will donate 15% of proceeds from online sales of Revo Abyss and Belay sunglass models to SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT: Kilimanjaro beneficiaries including the Children's Safe Drinking Water Program, UNHCR, and Water For People's PlayPumps Technology.
