Two ultra luxury, stunningly embellished abayas worth a combined AED200,000 will be unveiled to hundreds of visitors at The Bride Show Abu Dhabi on Friday (12 February).

Designed by UAE national Afra Al Ghafli for Oshia Fashion Design, the abayas feature diamonds, crystals, cultured pearls, turquoise and silver discs, embellishing the natural black silk fabric and one of the creations is hoped to be presented to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.

Mrs Al Ghafli credits the 'mother of the UAE nation' as her inspiration, a woman who taught UAE national women how to be charitable, generous, creative and hard-working.

“We were honoured to learn that Oshia Fashion Design had created the abayas exclusively for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi,” said Lucy Clarke, Exhibition Director for The Bride Show. “The catwalk shows are always one of the most popular features of the exhibition and visitors are in for a treat at the finale of the Oshia collection on Friday at 6pm”.

The Bride Show Abu Dhabi, taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until Saturday 13 February under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif, wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, offers brides-to-be and her family a one stop shop to planning a wedding.

It has also become a must-attend event for fashion-savvy women in the UAE capital who come to see local and international designers' latest collections on the catwalk as well as shop for haute couture evening wear, abayas, jewellery, make up, handbags and homewares.

And, as Valentine's Day approaches, romance is reaching fever pitch on the exhibition floor. On the second day of the show, Arushi, one of the most established design houses in Dubai, gave away an off-white and pink dress, adorned with Swarovski crystals and exclusively designed for The Bride Show Abu Dhabi to celebrate the most romantic day of the year.

The dress, worth AED20,000, was the finale centrepiece for the Arushi catwalk show and was presented to one lucky visitor in the audience by Mireille Loughlin, the designer. In celebration of Valentine's Day, anyone who visits The Bride Show Abu Dhabi wearing red on the final day, Saturday 13 Febuary, will gain free entry.

The Bride Show Abu Dhabi, organised by IIR Middle East, is the most prestigious bridal exhibition in the UAE capital and takes place daily until Saturday 13 February 2010 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Open to the public from 2:30pm-10:30pm daily, The Bride Show Abu Dhabi has attracted an international line-up of more than 200 exhibitors who are showcasing wedding gowns, international haute couture fashion, beauty, hair and jewellery ideas, wedding venues and honeymoon destinations.

The Bride Show Abu Dhabi is followed by The Bride Show Dubai which takes place from 7 to 10 April 2010 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
