Veteran fashion designer Rina Dhaka will open the 11th edition of India Runway Week (IRW) beginning March 29 in New Delhi, announced the Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFDC). The three-day fashion programme, a bi-annual trade event, will introduce emerging talent and places young Indian designers firmly on the global fashion stage.

“I am humbled and honoured to partner with India Runway Week. I have always respected the platform’s commitment to fashion, and admire the opportunities it provides to young and emerging Indian designers to celebrate and share their passion and creativity with the world,” said Dhaka. Describing her India Runway Week collection as glamorous and traditional but easy, fun and playful, which Dhaka hopes will help women feel empowered, confident and comfortable.

"IRW provides a platform for both established and upcoming talented designers but also introduce fresh designers to showcase their collections. This gives them excellent business opportunities from both bulk and retail buyers. In addition to facilitating the exchange of ideas and networking interactions between designers, buyers and affiliates, the event provides an enriching experience for everyone," IRW said on its website.

"The India Runway Week accolade is an Indian initiative which recognises and celebrates designers who are dedicated to the use of handmade materials, innovative design and unique style," Kiran Kheva, fashion director, India Runway Week, said. (RR)
