Handicrafts factory destroyed in fire

A handicrafts factory at Mahabirtala was completely burnt down in a fire that broke out last night.
The factory, located at 258 BL Saha Road near Tollygunj Phari, was owned by HA Nanji.
The factory was a bamboo structure and clay dolls and other handicraft items were manufactured there.
Nine fire tenders with a water bowser and a water carrier could extinguish the fire after two and a half hours.
Financial damage is expected to be several lakhs.
Handicraft articles of clay were washed away by jets of water to douse the fire on factory premises, said Achintya Mukherjee, Divisional Officer, Behala Control.
