NABARD initiates programme to improve weavers status

National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) has initiated a Cluster Development Program through Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO), in a bid to develop the economic status of handloom weavers in Thanjavur.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Co-operatives inaugurated the program, under which 400 weavers would be benefited. The Minister informed that many other programs have been initiated by the government for the welfare of weavers in the state.
The five year Cluster Development Program includes various activities such as skill up-gradation training, technical development workshops and participation in exhibitions, training on business management and awareness camps.
