Reliance Ind to launch wider range of 'Recron' to expand retail venture

The polyester division of Reliance Industries is likely to add more products in the home furnishing range under the brand name Recron. Reliance Industries is also planning to unleash a separate retail division in the near future.
New products range, which include cushions, bed covers and pillowcases will be test marketed in some markets in the North India before they are introduce the entire range on a national platform.
Chief Operating Officer of Polyester Sector, Reliance Industries, Man Mohan informed that the company is planning to launch new products under Recron and it will be sale off in major retail chains. The company may even set up its own separate retail division.
Reliance Industries has decided to raise the number of outlets from 3,000 to 5,000. The brand will be available at its Vimal outlets, which belongs to the company's textile division. Reliance operates a retail chain through its Vimal, Harmony and Mangaldeep outlets.
Currently Recron brand has a little existence in the company's overall operations, which accounts a turnover of Rs 25 crore.
Reliance Industries plans to jump in this particular segment, as there is no other major challenger in categories like pillows and bed covers.
