The increased investment in the industrial sector of Indonesia does not follow with an increase in human resources due to the lack of industry based educational institutions, according to director of Textiles Industry and Miscellaneous Manufacturing Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Ramon Bangun.

As of now there are 3 new textile schools in the country, which are still in need of expert printers for textiles and textile products, Mr. Ramon said in Purwakarta, West Java.

Mr. Ramon said Indonesia has had two private universities in the field of textiles, of which one is owned by the Ministry of Industry. High-tech systems have been introduced in textile machineries and equipments and the country needs more than 1,000 experts in the field of handling these machineries.

According to the director, Indonesia needs around 30,000 trained personnel in the textiles sector for which the Government continues to initiate training to improve workforce capacity in the industry.

Last year, the Government trained 5,100 workers for the textile sector and this year as of now the Government has trained around 2,000 people from the Central Java region, and these trained workers have been hired by several firms, he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Industry Alex Retraubun said there would be need for more industry-based educational institutions in the country when Asean Economic Community (AEC) forms in 2015.
